I started fishing at a young age when my parents had a place on Logan Martin Lake in Pell City, AL. We would go there just about every weekend and I would fish off the pier when I was around 3 or 4 with my dad. As I got older he started carrying me out with him in the boat. We fished a lot!!!! When I was 14, my dad and I fished my very first tournament and I was hooked!!!! I was also very active in football and baseball and after high-school, I was fortunate to get a scholarship to Auburn University in football ( I was a running back). I got hurt my red-shirt junior year that ended my football career, and I still needed something that was competitive because that is what I was use too!!! So I got into competitive fishing at the age of 21. I started fishing just small local tournaments until about the age of 25 and then started fishing the Red Man circuit at the age of 26. When I was 27, I WON my first Red Man at Wheeler Lake, AL. I acquired my first sponsor after that and started getting more sponsors through the years to come! I fished my first season as a Pro in 2000, in the Bass Master’s Invitational Circuit, where I finished 7th in my first event on Lake Martin, AL. I’ve been going strong ever since, mainly because of the competitiveness nature within me, in addition to comradery and the social networking the joy of fishing provides. Since that time, I have fished over 200 tournaments including major circuits like F.L.W. and B.A.S.S. from Lake Okeechobee, FL to Clear Lake, CA. My most recent accomplishments include winning the 2009 Bass Pro Shops/Nitro Classic Championship and winning the 2010 Bassin’ USA Angler of the Year/AL Division.
